Tuesday, 18th Nov - We're back!
The site was down for a few days, due to unforseen technical difficuties. It's nice to be missed - you don't appreciate what you've got until its not there! Normal service has now been resumed (or what passes for normal in these parts)!

Wednesday, 22nd Oct - Shssh! A useful link?
In the very unlikely event of Shovellers being asked the question, "Does the Malt Shovel have a link with the CIA"?, the correct (and smart) answer is of course "Yes". How so? Because, someone from the Cocos (and Keeling) Islands has been looking at our site and we wanted to know where they are. Our search led us to an interesting and informative site called
"The World Facts Book"
And, this is a CIA web site.
We wondered if George Bush Jnr uses it to formulate US foreign policy?

Anyway, it's a useful resource for students, as any essay that begins with the words "According to the CIA...." is likley to gain more than passing attention....

Only guessing, but putting the words "links with the CIA", "George Bush Jnr" and "US foreign policy" and "according to the CIA" on the same web page (twice) might also gain more than passsing attention from the US Government and Military, and further boost our site traffic.

We shall see.... (But you ain't seen me, right!).

Note
The Cocos and Keeling Islands are a group of tiny coral islands in the Indian Ocean half way between Australia and Srilanka. Their highest point is 5m above seal level. The population is 630 and someone there is very, very bored!

Wednesday, 22nd Oct - So how is our web site doing...?
Very nicely it seems, as you can see for yourself on this link to our
Site Statistics

Because our wonderful customers and their friends from around the world keep look at the site to find out what's going on here, we have been galloping up the web site rankings....

Relative World Rankings....
We can point a clever tool at a web site and see immediately where it stands in terms of the global site rankings. The lower the score, the more popular the site. The table below shows some sites....

www.maltshovel.com enters World's top 200,000 web sites
On Oct 6th we were astonished to learn that we have made it into the World's top 200,000 web sites. Good beer, it seems, is right up there in our list of priorities, and quite right, too!

25th June - A free site search engine has been added. (We like 'free')!

19th June - Lots has been going on. A tour of the Maltshovel has been developed, and BBHCC (who we sponsor) now have their own section of the site.

27th May 2003 - Home Page updated to reflect Steve's unique management style. Camra's guide updated to 2003 edition (no, I hadn't even noticed Graham)! Bar staff get a deserved mention. Food page added to. So too the Locals Page (do you recognise yourselves?) and todays beers featured on the Real Ale Page. Hope this meets with general approval.

15 May 2003 - Web site has passed from Graham Hirst to Robin Pine. Graham is deserving of a huge vote of thanks for his time and effort spent in setting up the site. A 'Top Man' - and a splendid bit of design!

26 Jun 2002 - General tweaking ready for a major content upgrade in the next few weeks (bit late I know).

19 Nov 2001 - A new locals page has been added to the site today.

1 12 Nov 2001 - Welcome to our new Website. Designed and built as an early Christmas present for Steve & Lyn, your erstwhile hosts at the Malt Shovel, Horsham's premier Real Ale house, with at least six different guest and house ales on tap at any one time.
