Friday 12th October 07 - MS Beer Festival....
We have 100 real ales lined up for you to be consumed over the coming weeks. Try beers from breweries that you will never see at any other time!

The 17th to the 26th September 2004 is National Cask Beer Week
For your delectation and delight we have beers from
independent family brewers from all around the country:

The Family Brewers of Britain....
Family Brewers of Britain are the backbone providers of great cask beer in this country. There was a time when most breweries were family owned, but the number has dereased through consolidation and rationalisation in the industry.

Some of the biggest and oldest beer names are part of this group, including Fullers London Pride - one of the UK's leading cask beers.

Between the 33 members of the Independent Family Brewers of Britain they produce 310 cask conditioned beers and contribute 6% to all beer production in the UK.

During Cask Beer Week we are pleased to be able to bring you a wide selection. Many of these beers you will not find in other pubs in the area, so be sure to enjoy them whilst you can!

The "Beerscape" - Is this as good as it gets...?
This was the beerscape on Friday 19th September. Is this perfection? Can things actually get any better? Webman captured the moment, but where were you?

General Information
The Maltshovel offers you nine different real ales. Through our Beer Festival we can't tell you tell you exactly what they will be because they are coming and going so quickly that the beerscape changes on a daily basis. So expect to be smacked for asking for "a pint of that nice one I had yesterday".

Other tempting drinks
We offer a range of lagers, including Stella Artois, Heineken, Becks Vier and Castelmaine XXXX.

Hoegarden Belgian Wheat Beer
As the weather gets warmer, (hopefully), why not try the Belgian wheat beer Hoegarden? This is truly a deliciously refreshing pint with a fragrant, herbal aroma.

Ciders
For cider fans we offer Strongbow, but real officianados can enjoy a glass of scrumpy which at 7% will knock your socks off!

Spirits
Our 'club' (double) measures represent better value for money.

Wines
When there's a couple of you looking like you've had the Day from Hell, we will offer you a bottle at a much more sensible price than by the glass.
