10th July - County Cricket at Arundel....
Steve is sponsoring Sussex's game against Essex. He is supplying the balls (what else)? On a tour of the ground many old friends were encountered. Steve is delighted to have a signed bat for raffling on behalf of the Friends of Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre, provided through the good offices of Neil Lenham. Thank you Neil. Top Man!

A surreal moment occurred whilst enjoying an evening pint at the Kings Arms in Arundel....Your correspondent was convinced he saw a penguin pirched on a chimney pot.... Now I know that I'd supped a couple and had been in the sun, and that my eyes are not that good, but just as I was beginning to doubt my sanity a local joined us and said "Don't be daft. It's not a penguin it's an Eagle Owl". Apparently the plastic bird was put up there to deter nesting seagulls. A seagull then sat on the owl's head.... It was time to head for home!

1st July - The Malt Shovel 'Beercast'....
The weather link has prompted some thought as to how the weather affects the consumption of beer. Yes, hot weather makes you thirsty, but if it's really hot would your prefer a weaker beer as opposed to a stronger one? (Probably). Could beer orders be tailored according to weather forecasts? Of course, as this is exactly what the supermarkets do for ice cream and salad. Any (expert) customer views on this subject?

....I tell you it's all the fault of that Bill Giles!
