The Malt Shovel Beer Festival
Although I applaud the aims of the beer festival, I believe that we have had far too many indifferent beers on sale. Anything good just flies out of the barrel, leaving the average and even sometimes downright unpleasant offerings behind. No one ejoys a good pint more than me, but I have been forced to turn to Guinness at times when none of 10, 11, or even 12 beers turns my crank. Quality is at least as important as quantity!
And what about all these blonde and golden beers? The only one I personally like is Summer Lightning. I have given up on these pale beers as I have not found one that I like. A pint of bitter should look like a pint of bitter and taste fantastic.
Currently I would kill for a decent pint of Harvey's Sussex or Timmy Taylor!!!
